Lady BOS Productions presents SHOW + TELL: A [sort of] Open Mic. Join us for a Sunday Funday filled with a variety of performances by local poets, musicians, dancers, comedians and more. Hosted in the extremely cozy Cafe at the Arts at the Armory, this event celebrates live performance art in all its forms and stages by welcoming an interdisciplinary cast of makers to share works-in-progress. Donations made at the door will be paid out to the artists performing; 10% of donations will support the production costs of ...that’s what she said, an all-femme run production that provides support to female and femme-identifying dance makers through peer-mentored critical response workshops, community outreach programs, and performance opportunities. |
Art should be accessible to everyone. If you do not have the financial means to support this event, we still welcome your enthusiasm and support for the arts through your free attendance. If you do have the means to support working artists monetarily, we suggest a donation of $5-10, cash or credit, at the door.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Somerville Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

call for performing artists of all sorts!
Have something in progress and looking to test it on an audience? Spend a Sunday afternoon experimenting alongside peers at SHOW + TELL! Each artist will be given 15 minutes to present a work in progress from any live performance discipline: musicians, puppeteers, dancers, comedians, actors, poets, and more are welcome to join in the fun.
This event is FREE and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5-10. TRANSPARENCY IS KEY: 10% of donations will support the production costs of ...that’s what she said, an all-femme run production that provides support to female and femme-identifying dance makers through peer-mentored critical response workshops, community outreach programs, and performance opportunities. The rest of the money collected is split by the performing artists.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE SPACE:
Believe us when we say this cafe is COZY. There is a small stage with basic technical elements (mic, mic stand, and amp). This space can be used by comedians, musicians, etc. In front of the stage, we tape out a rectangular space on the floor, about 6X8feet, for movement, theater and puppetry acts.
ABOUT THE CASTING:
Lady BOS Productions is dedicated to providing [paid] performance opportunities to local, independent artists. We are particularly interested in prioritizing the presentation of artists from traditionally marginalized communities. We strongly encourage artists of all ages to present. We will accept participants ages 13+. LBP is run by a bunch of dancers, who know a bunch of dancers - but we love art in all its forms! Please help us spread the word across genres!
ABOUT THE EXPECTATIONS:
Our expectations are simple:
To indicate interest in participation, please sign up at showtellsignup.eventbrite.com. Sign up will close at midnight the Monday preceding the event. This deadline will only be extended if we do not have enough artists confirmed for the date. We can accept nine performing acts per event. Performers will be confirmed by a member of the Lady BOS Productions team no later than midnight the Wednesday before the event.

ABOUT THE EXPECTATIONS:
Our expectations are simple:
- If you are confirmed to participate, we want you to actually show up at the event.
- We would also very much appreciate it if you would share information about the event with your circles via social media, email, website, word of mouth, smoke signal… whatever works for you. Just tell people it is happening. We aim to cross-pollinate arts audiences with casual interdisciplinary arts events - but that only works if everyone spreads the word.
- This event is FAMILY FRIENDLY. It is totally okay if youngsters won’t “get” your performance - as long as they aren’t scarred by it. And with a nod to permitting: please keep your clothes on. That goes for all humans, not just the ladies.
- We would love it if you would hang out at the event for a bit and support the other artists presenting. Who knows: maybe you’ll find a new best friend or roommate or collaborator!
- Sometimes we will have photography/videography. If we do, we’ll share it with you (for free, of course). We’ll just ask that you sign a release and use our crediting language.
- You can expect to be paid 10% of whatever comes in - and hopefully that is somewhere around $20+. Please understand that we cannot guarantee figures at this point.

Please note: this event is not curated in any sense other than to present a cast of artists diverse in expression and background. There may be times that we cannot accommodate requests to perform in an effort to keep the afternoon truly interdisciplinary. In that event, we would work with you to find an alternate date to perform.
